Yoko & Michael
Last night, Al and I were watching the end of the first game of the World Series, because we root for two teams in this house – the Red Sox and anyone playing the Stankees. So, of course, we were rooting for the Phillies. Anyway, as is customary during televised baseball games, we had to sit through several commercials for pharmaceuticals that assist men in their sexual endeavors. I’d type the names of the drugs, but that always leads to the blog getting inundated with pharmaceutical spam. So, let’s just say one drug begins with the letters L-E-V and the other one begins with C-I-A.
And then a Blackberry commercial came on and the song in the background of the commercial was “All You Need Is Love.”
“Gee, thanks Yoko,” was Al’s comment.
“Hey… it could have been Jackson or his estate that sold that one. At least they didn’t use it for the ED commercial. It wouldn’t fit anyway. That’s the whole point. They need something a little more that just love.”
“A Hard Day’s Night,” was Al’s response. And then the silliness began.
“Please Please Me.”
“Yellow Submarine.”
“Norwegian Wood.”
“Ticket to Ride.”
“Help!“
“Don’t Let Me Down.”
And the last one, but I think the top choice…
“Come Together.”
¹I read a report that due to his financials troubles, Jackson had leveraged 50% of his portion of the Beatles portfolio so, technically, his estate owns half and Sony owns half, with John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, owning the rights to the Beatles songs not included in the portfolio Jackson originally purchased when he outbid both Ono and former Beatle Paul McCartney for the rights to those songs.
