Languishing in Leetsdale
As I mentioned yesterday, I tend to get a little OCD about tracking my packages when I order merchandise on-line. And about 80% of my nongrocery shopping is done on-line because I hate shopping in person, unless it’s a bookstore or a jewelry store. I think it’s caused by a weird mutation of Chromosome #12.
Anyway, when we last left my packages last evening, the UPS merchandise was hanging out in New Stanton, PA, a mere 155 miles south of Erie and the FedEx package was stalled in Leetsdale, PA, only 127 from me. My money was on the UPS package arriving first, as I’ve watched via internet tracking while my packages sit for days, lonely and dejected, in Leetsdale.
However, it seems that the FedEx package made more progress last night than the UPS package (or the FedEx tracking website was updated first), as it seems that my package left Leetsdale last evening at 10:27 p.m. but the UPS package is still in New Stanton. Sigh.
When I explained this to Al this morning while I was making coffee, he was unfazed. And his comment?
“Maybe next time you should pay the extra $57 and have it shipped overnight.”
And yes, there was a sarcastic tone to his voice. I wonder where he learned to do that?
Harumph. And
UPDATE: And the winner is….as expected: UPS. While I was out with the dog, the UPS man delivered my package. It’s a little strange that the status of the tracking page went from “Arrived in New Stanton, PA” to “Delivered” with nothing in between, but I’m not complaining. Unfortunately, I was really hoping to get the FedEx package today, since it contains something I was hoping to have by tomorrow morning, but the FedEx tracking information hasn’t been updated since 10:27 p.m. yesterday when it “Departed Leetsdale, PA.” I suppose there’s still a chance that it will arrive today, but I’m not holding my breath.
UPDATE (07/16/2009 @ 2:00 p.m.): I was at a meeting this morning and, when I returned home for lunch, what did I find? My FedEx package on the porch. Yay! However, the FedEx tracking website still indicates that my package is “in transit” and that it “Department Leetsdale, PA” on July 14th at 10:27 p.m. Pfffbbbbtttt to the FedEx tracking website.
