Flipped His Liddy
Dear me. It seems G. Gordon Liddy is a blithering idiot. Oh, I’m sorry, am I being to general? Perhaps if I’m a little more specific. We all know that G. Gordon Liddy is an ex-con who, in addition to being convicted and serving time for his part in the Watergate fiasco, also plotted to murder Jack Anderson, encouraged killing ATF agents, firebomb the Brookings Institution, etc., he’s now turned his attention to President Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor.
It seems Mr. Liddy’s racism and sexism are showing:
He actually refers to the Spanish language as “illegal alien,” when disseminating the right-wing propaganda about La Raza, an Hispanic civil rights organization. I guess we’re going to have to change all those classes offered in high schools and colleges around the country… from now on, kids will be studying Illegal Alien 101 or Advanced Illegal Alien, and Berlitz will change the names of all their Spanish courses, so they’ll now offer CD-ROMs that teach Illegal Alien for Beginners or Traveler’s Guide to Illegal Alien.

And then, and this is really precious, he says he hopes that “that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then.”
I wonder if Mr. Liddy is aware that Sandra Day O’Connor was exactly the same age when she was appointment to the Supreme Court by Ronald Reagan as Sonia Sotomayor is right now. Maybe when you get appointed by a Republican you don’t ovulate or menstruate? Maybe Reagan checked O’Connor’s medical records before appointing her and found out that she’d had a bilateral salpingo oophorectomy so those pesky female hormones wouldn’t be an issue? Maybe Reagan had asked O’Connor to provide proof that she’d already gone through menopause before he nominated her? He must have, because I can’t imagine the right’s posterboy doing something so ill-advised as nominating a menstruating woman to the Supreme Court.
Or, perhaps the problem is that Mr. Liddy isn’t aware of the average age at which a woman undergoes menopause? Or maybe he has been going through the nominee’s garbage and knows for a fact that she’s still menstruating? Or, and my money is on this one, maybe G. Gordon Liddy is just an idiot?

But hey, you know, at least Liddy got the woman’s first name correct. We should give him a point for that. Because when you’re as stupid and ignorant as Mr. Liddy, you need all the points you can get.
