When Squirrels Attack
This morning, the pooch and I went on our usual morning stroll, which included walking around a local park. The squirrels were out in full force, running up and down the trees, jumping from branch to branch, scurrying across telephone lines, and chattering up a storm to one another.
One particularly brave and rather large fellow stood his ground at the base of a tree until the pooch and I were almost on top of him, at which point he trotted to the next tree over, where he clung to the trunk about a foot off the ground and proceeded to stare at us. Well, not me as much as the pooch.
This furry little critter was flicking his tail and just staring at the pooch. And when I say staring, I mean following her with his eyes and head as we sauntered on by. And by the look on the squirrel’s face, I just knew he was trying to size up whether or not he could take on the pooch. He was looking for a little rumble in the park, I’m sure of it. But we just walked on by and the fuzz ball decided not to start some shit.
Then, this afternoon, we headed the same direction, since it was still nice out and I thought we needed another long walk. And wouldn’t you know it, that same squirrel was in that same tree, this time about seven feet off the ground, and as we passed by, he did the same thing, giving the pooch the hairy eyeball the whole time.
Seriously, the smirk on this critter’s face and the way he watched us was just kind of freaky. I think the next time we head that way, I’m going to take some sunflower seeds out of the birdfeeder. Maybe if I make friends with him, he’ll quit with the malocchio already.

That’s hilarious that the squirrel is just staring down your dog. Has the squirrel ever actually attacked your dog? Also I wonder if it is the same one.

Fortunately, we’ve not had any actual squirrel attacks. But if looks could kill… I think the pooch might have suffered serious harm from that squirrel.
