Silly Little Dreamer

Did you ever remember something and you’re not sure whether your really remembering an actual event or whether you dreamt it?

I’ve been packing up some very old books to give away.  Yes, you read that correctly.  I’m going to be donating some of my books.  The ones chosen for the purge are very old and are subjects I’m not interested in anymore or novels that didn’t really float my boat/blow up my skirt/rock my socks off.  And since Al’s sister informed me her church is getting ready for a rummage sale, I thought it was the perfect opportunity.

One of the books I was debating about was one of The Cat Who series by Lillian Jackson Braun.  I’ve had the books for years and years and years (actually, it’s three books in one volume) and have just never gotten around to reading it.  I ended up putting it in the rummage sale pile, but then this morning I was remembering seeing a couple of Cat Who volumes on someone else’s bookshelf.  Or was I?  Maybe I dreamt seeing those books in someone’s bookcase.  And if I did, was my subconscious telling me to give it away or not give it away?

I’m a firm believer in dreams having meaning.  I’ve had several dreams in my life that were of the premonition variety and, yes, they actually came true.  I also think that when you dream of people who have passed on, there’s a good chance that it’s because those spirits are trying to tell you something.  And yes, I also visit Lily Dale about once a year.

So, here I am, trying to decide if (a) I actually saw a couple of Lillian Jackson Braun books somewhere or (b) I dreamt it.  And if I dreamt it, why?  I suppose in the grander scheme of things, it really doesn’t matter.  It’s just a book and, if for some reason I end up wanting that book after I give it away, I can always buy another copy, no?

But, as I sit here and type this, I’m leaning more and more towards the “memory” being a dream and keeping the book because of the dream.  Keeping one extra book isn’t going to kill me… and I have enough other books to give away.  So, there.  Problem solved.

Sometimes you just have to talk it through.  Or blog it through.  Whatever.

Not a dream, my friend. You saw them on my bookshelves while entertaining Wes! They are enjoyable light reading with Siamese cats as part of the plot.
