Daffodil Reminder
There are daffodils blooming all over the place. We’ve got a few in our yard, but a couple of the neighbors have TONS of them. They’re the epitome of spring. And, like all flowers, I love them… when they’re outside. I very much dislike cut flowers in the house, not matter how beautiful the arrangement or how simply divine the vase. I don’t mind flowers at other people’s homes, at weddings, or as centerpieces at dinner parties or other functions. But I won’t have them in my home.
Why?
Because they die. And I don’t like to watch them die. Eventually, they start to wilt. Then the edges start to turn brown and wither. Yes, I know, the same thing happens to them if they’re left alone in nature. But not nearly so quickly. Cutting them accelerates the process.
And they turn from beautiful to ugly too quickly.
From gorgeous colors to brown and black before their time.
From life to death. Too soon.

They’re going to die regardless. Enjoy what they offer in the short time we have to do that
I say this as someone who has daffodils on the table (and out front in the ground).
