Bad Cop, No Doughnut
I’m waiting for the reports on the mayor’s press conference this afternoon with regard to the Erie Cop caught on video. My guess is that there’s going to be a slap on the wrist. I’m anxious to see if I’m right. In the meantime, if you’d like to know what others are saying about the incident, check out some of these blogs:
Travelling and the American Dream
Wouldn’t it be nice if Erie could, for once, make national news because of something good that happened here? Sheesh.
UPDATE: I guess I was right. The officer was given a 10-day suspension without pay and he has to undergo alcohol and fitness-for-duty assessments.

Yep – and there will be an investigation into how Internal Affairs conducts investigations. Which will go nowhere. And after a few months, they’ll expect that everyone will just forget about this.
Well, sorry, but one fact that I can’t forget is that the Mayor saw no problems with how this was being conducted. You’re telling me that someone being investigated, who was suspended, should be allowed to drive a marked police cruiser, in uniform, with the IA investigator and conduct….an investigation? Either the Mayor was afraid of taking a stand, or he condoned the action. Either way, he’s lost my vote. Sorry if I sound like a “single issue” voter, but this scenario just told me a great deal about what Joe Sinnott is all about.
