Stop! Thief!
The fun just never ends around here (more on the fun we’ve been having in an upcoming post). I received a pingback the other day that I thought rather odd. When I finally got around to checking it out, I found that Krista Jansen wrote an article for Associated Content and used my picture in her article. WTF? She even admits under the photo that the picture is copyrighted, although she lists the copyright owner as the blog page from which she stole it, instead of the actual copyright owner (me). Had she contacted me and asked for permission to use my photo, I could have told her who owned the copyright (Al, me, or PugPei Productions).
And no, I never received a request from Ms. Jansen or Associated Content to use my photo, although my e-mail address and copyright information is readily available from any page on my blog.
I sent a private message to Ms. Jansen via Associated Content’s website (I had to join in order to do that) asking her to remove my photo from her story and cease her thievin’ ways (okay, I worded it a little more professionally than that, but you get the idea).
After I sent Ms. Jansen the note, I noticed that Associated Content has a link at the bottom of every page titled “Copyright Infringement.” Clicking that link tells you what hoops Associated Content would like you to jump through if THEY have stolen YOUR work. Yes, that’s right. They want the victim to jump through their hoops. Perhaps Associated Content should just tell its writers not to steal other people’s work. There’s a novel idea, eh?
I’ll let you know if/when I receive a response from Ms. Jansen and/or Associated Content. Sheesh. You know, sometimes people really suck.
