To bring you a unique music video and darned good song.

Democracy for America’s Night School is a very cool service provided free-of-charge to anyone that wants to register.

DFA Night School will teach you strategies you can use to take back your city, your state, your country.

The only requirements are a telephone (to hear the audio) and PC (to view the presentation).

There are a few events coming up soon.

  • You’ll learn the skills for citizen lobbying and the tactics to make sure you’re effective.
  • Building Progressive Coalitions (Mar 14)
    • In this session, we will discuss strategies to build progressive coalitions in order to gain influence with elected officials.
  • Anyone Can Run (Mar 20)
    • In this session we will be joined by DFA endorsed and newly elected state representatives Elesha Gayman from Iowa, and Maria Chappelle-Nadal from Missouri to tell their stories about running for local office.

I’ve already RSVP’ed for myself and I recommend the seminars if you’re trying to build (or in many cases rebuild) and maintain your local Democratic Party or precinct.

I’ll write-up summaries after each seminar.

    Speaking of Democracy for America

The DFA Training Academy is having an in-person seminar in Columbia, SC on March 17th and 18th.

At the DFA Training Academy, experienced campaign professionals will cover practical strategies and tactics in everything from communications, fundraising and voter targeting to online organizing and building sustainable grassroots movements. We build the program so you can go out and actually use the skills you learn right away. Then, we follow up with you to make sure you have the support you need to organize your community.

I’m RSVP’ed for that, too, and will provide extensive write-ups when I return.

I’m discovering that there are more and more events and opportunities for gettin’ smart on political organizations available if you just look a little.

Something strange is happening over at the GOP website.

    Today’s post is headlined:

Hillary Violates Ethics In Government Act…

    Yet, read the text.

The Associated Press (2/26, Davis) reports that, “Democratic leaders backed away from aggressive plans to limit President Bush’s war authority, the latest sign of divisions within their ranks over how to proceed…The developments on both sides of the Capitol reflected a new level of disarray in Democratic ranks on Iraq. Swept into power by voters clamoring for an end to the war, Democrats have seen their efforts falter under a reality more complicated than they found on the campaign trail…Internal divisions, Republican opposition and a president who _ while weakened _ still appears to have the dominant voice on the war have all left Democrats flailing for a way to change the war’s course… Bush still enjoys substantial advantage when it comes to trumpeting his message on the war, even though his image and clout suffered major blows in last fall’s elections…Democrats, by contrast, have a cacophony of voices _ including several presidential candidates _ weighing in on what to do next in Iraq.  ‘The party’s not unified. Until you control the executive branch, you really don’t have a party _ you have all these independent actors,’ Lawrence Korb, a Reagan administration Defense Department official, said of the Democrats’ plight.”

Senator Clinton isn’t mentioned at all. In fact, the article quoted isn’t in reference to the Senator.

Check the think to The Associated Press, though.

That’s right. It links to a Washington Post article.

Oh, Katie MacGuidwin, we do miss you so!

At least the WaPo article is the one intended by the writer. The article does detail Senator Clinton’s erroneous financial disclosures that failed to mention her roles in the Clinton Foundation. The reports for the last 5 years did not report that she acted as Treasurer and Secretary in the Foundation. Once the mistake was discovered, it was immediately corrected (all 5 years worth of reports).

It’s not like Senator Clinton “got away” with anything. She didn’t get extra money for not reporting her positions (which were publicly available information). It’s not as if she were involved in the Abramoff scandal or tried to build a bridge to nowhere, or leaked the name of a certain CIA operative.

Perhaps my tinfoil hat is on too tight, but the coincidences here are interesting.

    CNN.

Insurgents bombed Iraq’s Ministry of Municipalities building as top Iraqi officials gathered there Monday morning for a celebration, Iraqi officials said.

The attack killed at least 12 people and wounded 42 others, including Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi, the officials said.

Mahdi, a member of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq — a powerful Shiite political group — suffered minor injuries to his hand and leg in the blast, SCIRI spokesman Haithem al-Husseini told CNN.

After Iraqi President Jalal Talibani’s stroke, one can’t help but wonder if the dots connect.

If you see something in the toilet/urinal, do you aim for it?

    My response.

    I don’t believe so…
But I also tend to flush first.

    Follow-up question.

    Really?
    Why?

    And my final answer.

    I like a fresh bowl?

    From CBSNews.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has suffered a stroke and traveled to Jordan for treatment, reports CBS News reporter Kristin Gillespie in Amman, Jordan.

A spokesman in Talabani’s office confirmed to CBS News in Baghdad that the president has had a “small stroke” and is now in Amman.

It apparently was a very small stroke as Mr. Talabani was checked out in Iraq, stabilized and then shipped to Amman, Jordan.

Of course, it does leave one to ask…If everything is so great in Iraq, why does Mr. Talabani need to go to Jordan for medical care?

The Jacksonville Daily News really could use a good copy-editor and perhaps an online-editor.

Not only is the headline misspelled, but there’s no accompanying article.

Also, their website doesn’t list a top story.

I love this town. I really do.
