According to Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), the President of the United States, George W. Bush, and, at least, 23 Republican Senators are weak on terror.

The video with Chris Wallace is at Huffington Post and the quote is below. There’s also video and comments at Bob Casey Jr.’s blog.

Wallace brought up GOP support for the package and asked Santorum, “Does that make them soft of terror?”

Santorum replied, “Well, in that particular respect, yes.”

You know, Pennsvylvia, this is just another reason not to vote for Senator Santorum. Bob Casey, Jr supports a reasonable immigration policy as well as being strong on terror.

Wonkette’s astute audience has captured photographs of the Vice President of the United States, Richard B. Cheney, having a contracted shredding service visit his residence at the Naval Observatory.

One has to wonder exactly what needs to be destroyed in the Cheney household…

That’s right, folks, the American government wants unmarried adults, up to age 29, to abstain from sex and they’re going to spend millions of (tax) dollars to push that message.

Now the government is targeting unmarried adults up to age 29 as part
of its abstinence-only programs, which include millions of dollars in
federal money that will be available to the states under revised
federal grant guidelines for 2007.

According to Wade Horn, Assistant Secretary for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this shift is just minor clarification on the policy and that Americans under 30 are having more illegitimate kids.

That may be true and it could be due to this little tidbit.

The National Center for Health Statistics says well over 90% of adults ages 20-29 have had sexual intercourse.

Wow! Of course, who can blame them, since they’re adults and capable of making adult decisions.

The Hubble Space Telescope is an important part of mankind’s ability to explore the far reaches of the galaxy and, even, the universe. It’s also the only tool we have in space that can do what it does (collect images from those corners of space we can’t go).

NASA said today that there will be one more mission to Hubble to make repairs. Hopefully, these repairs will carry the telescope to 2013. This will be the final repair mission for Hubble, according to the statement.

NASA Administrator Michael Griffin announced plans for a fifth
servicing mission to Hubble Tuesday during a meeting with agency
employees at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. Goddard
is the agency center responsible for managing Hubble.

“We
have conducted a detailed analysis of the performance and procedures
necessary to carry out a successful Hubble repair mission over the
course of the last three shuttle missions. What we have learned has
convinced us that we are able to conduct a safe and effective servicing
mission to Hubble,” Griffin said. “While there is an inherent risk in
all spaceflight activities, the desire to preserve a truly
international asset like the Hubble Space Telescope makes doing this
mission the right course of action.”

While this is a great thing, extending Hubble’s life by 6 years, unless there’s a new space telescope in the sky before 2013, we will lose the tremendous ability to see beyond our limits.

Help preserve or replace the eye to space that Hubble has become, visit the Save Hubble website. There are tools to write the Administration and Congress and a petition.

The insanity in Washington, D.C. continues.

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter, the House Armed Services Committee chairman who coauthored legislation to build a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, announced plans on Monday for a longshot presidential bid in 2008.

Wonkette says Mr. Hunter is the “Best GOP Presidential Candidate EVER.”

2008 just got a whole lot more fun, because San Diego’s Duncan Hunter just announced he’s running for president. Thank you, Jesus.

Duncan has been in the House since 1981, and he’s completely crazy.

I’m wondering if the GOP really wants to keep the White House in 2008…With winners like George Allen, Bill Frist, John McCain, Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani threatening to run, it seems that a better strategy to not submit a candidate at all…

This sucks. Fox News says that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is nearing the end.

Apparently, there’s not that many people (other than me) that watch the show.

Last week, Studio 60 had 7.7 million viewers. Compare that with competing “CSI: Miami,” with 17.5 million. That gap cannot be closed.

I understand that it’s nearly a ten million viewer gap, but, NBC has much worse television and darnit, they owe it to me for canceling The West Wing.

Remember ScobleShow’s bit with the Zune guy?

Robert has a post up on his thoughts on the Zune as compared to the iPod. It’s a decent read and he has some of the same concerns (and answers a few questions) that I have.

Scoble disses the Zune because of “conversationality”, which is something I don’t get.

Conversationality: (Does it cause a conversation). Here Apple wins with the white headphones hands down.

Why are white earbuds that big of a deal? Further, I’d prefer to not be bothered by people asking me about my earbuds and attached hardware. Especially people I don’t know. Specifically, people I don’t know that may beat me up and take my new toy…So, I say, that’s a non-factor in my buying process.

He also says there’s not enough information to develop an “out of the box experience.”

There’s not enough data here. The Zune team didn’t show us the OOBE (Out Of Box Experience). This is why the iPod got my attention years ago.

I’m honestly not that concerned with an “out of the box experience.” I’m much more of a “give me my thing, let me set it up and go” type of guy.

The Zune has wifi and you’ll remember I had a question on it’s usage.

I’m not sure that the wireless technology can be used to sync with your home PC or if it’s only to link to other Zune users. If it’s only the latter, then Microsoft missed a prime opportunity to allow users to unplug one more cable.

It’s the latter. The wifi is only used to send music and photos to other Zune users. Guess what? IF I had a Zune, I’d conserve battery power by turning the wireless. If I can’t use it to sync with my PC (and I wouldn’t be able to), it’s a pointless function. Totally. Effin’. Pointless.

I’ll stick to the superphone’s 2gb miniSD for music. I’ve got a year-old Rio Forge with 256 on-board and a 256 MB SD for any other music listening that I’d want. Until something better comes along (100GB video iPod?) I’m not buying any new music toys…
