2008 Elections: Voting Early in Onslow County

North Carolina’s early voting period begins Thursday (October 16th).
The Onslow County Board of Elections will have four sites maintained for the early voting period:

Jacksonville Commons Rec. Center
Swansboro Middle School Annex
Tar Landing Baptist Church
Verona Fire Station

These locations will be open from 8:00am to 5:00pm on weekdays and on Saturday (November 1st) from 8:00am to 1:00pm. [...]

2008 Presidential Elections: Michelle Obama to visit Jacksonville

Michele Obama will be in Jacksonville on Tuesday, October 7th at the Jacksonville Commons Recreation Center. Doors open at 12:30pm and the program begins at 1:30pm.
The event is free and open to the public. There’s no tickets, but an RSVP is requested.

Your blurb (at left and “blurb” is an overstatement) about the OOPS reception and art show at the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts was pretty sad.
Not only was it poorly written and only a sentence (and a fragment) long, but the photograph of Bernie Rosage, Jr. [...]

The Next “Biggest Thing to Happen in Jacksonville”

Jacksonville, NC is getting a Barnes and Noble Booksellers (not a bookstore!) and the grand opening is tomorrow.
Tonight, however, the store is hosting a pre-opening sale (with some of the proceeds to benefit the Onslow County Library System) from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. It’s free and open to the public.
Come out and support the Libaries.

As I’ve mentioned, the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts held their 6th annual Soup in a Bowl fundraiser today (photos available here). I’d say it was a pretty rousing success, especially in the “Darned Good Soups” category.

Recent Manifestations Reception Tonight

Kevin Mertens, an art instructor at Coastal Carolina Community College, will be hosting a reception for his exhibit, Recent Manifestations, tonight from 6pm to 8pm. The exhibit will be in the Fine Arts Building of the campus.
