The following is a message (stolen from the Onslow Outdoor Painters Society blog) regarding an opportunity for artists from the  Jacksonville/Onslow Habitat for Humanity.
There are approximately 1600 homeless people living in Onslow County. As of August 26, 2008, there are 166 homeless children enrolled in the Onslow County School system (statistics from Onslow County Schools). [...]

As I’ve mentioned, the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts held their 6th annual Soup in a Bowl fundraiser today (photos available here). I’d say it was a pretty rousing success, especially in the “Darned Good Soups” category.
