Cracking open Kerouac

Thanks to Marion Blackburn’s writing on Jack Kerouac, I’ve been interested in reading his works. I mentioned before that my local library system didn’t have Big Sur, which was the book Marion was reading. In their inability to have the works of a notable and often-lauded American novelist and poet, I traipsed to the local Barnes and Noble and got a copy of The Town and The City.

I figured that I should start at the beginning of Kerouac’s writing to enjoy the full experience. My plan is to work my way through all his works in order. I haven’t decided how I’m going to blog the reading. I may blog the reading by chapter or by book. But, somehow or other, I’ll pass on the experience.

I hope you enjoy the Kerouac Project. Buying v. the library is probably best anyway, as you’ll want to own them after you’re done reading them. I’ve been meaning to re-read mine. But, then I’ve got a bunch of books that I haven’t even read for the first time yet…. Alas, I just need more damned time to read.
