Open Letter to the City of Jacksonville RE: Jacksonville Transit Schedule

Dear City of Jacksonville:
I really do like that Jacksonville has a mass transit system, even though it’s quite limited. I can appreciate that the Jacksonville Transit has a limited number of buses because of a fear of using government monies for public-use facilities and equipment. Often it is the residents who do not use, and often refuse to use, the mass transit system that complain about them.
This is not the case, however.
I use the Jacksonville Transit system and would like to use it more frequently. However, the schedule leaves a lot to be desired. For example, according to the schedule, I can leave my apartment in Downtown Jacksonville by bus at 6am and get to work by 7:45ish am (this is a theory that will be tested Friday and requires a 7:30am arrival at Midway Park and a 10-15 minute walk to my office). Unfortunately, unless I am at the bus stop at 4:30pm, I will not be able to ride the bus home. The 4:30pm bus from Midway Park is the only bus that will connect with a corresponding bus at McDaniel and Penny Streets (by Office Max). Unfortunately for me, there is no bus from McDaniel and Penny to Downtown after 5:15pm.
In short, I’m out of luck. And that sucks.
So, you know, fix it. And stuff.
Your rider,
Thomas Brock
