Dear Jacksonville Daily News,
Shame on you for only sending a photographer to the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts‘ Soup in a Bowl event yesterday. And an even bigger shame on you for having a photograph and a slightly over-run sentence for your coverage in today’s newspaper.

The Fat:
I seem to have collected a half-pound and weighed in at 196.5 this morning.
The Food:
Today was a tough food day. It was Soup in a Bowl at the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts. Instead of reposting the entire listing of soups, read the post. I have no clue the caloric value of any of [...]

As I’ve mentioned, the Jacksonville-Onslow Council for the Arts held their 6th annual Soup in a Bowl fundraiser today (photos available here). I’d say it was a pretty rousing success, especially in the “Darned Good Soups” category.
I had five hot soups plus one cold soup and two breads (there was a total of about [...]

General Carlessness:
Normally I’d give a pathetic little sniffle and ask that you please stop calling me “un-American” or “anti-American,” but with the word “American” being used as such a nasty insult in some circles lately, I’m starting to think that perhaps I should lift my head proudly and thank you for the compliment.
Brava, Jennifer.
It seems [...]

CNN’s Political Ticker.
Indiana voters elected the second Muslim congressman in U.S. history Tuesday.
Mr. Andre Carson (grandson of the late Congresswoman Julia Carson) joins Congressman Keith Ellison (MN-5) in the small (but growing) Muslim Caucus.
I wonder what the backwards racists at the Freedom ENC Communications, Inc’s local nutjob message board will say about that?
