Onslow County Commissioner Delma Collins Breaks Promise to Teachers

When Commissioner Collins ran for Onslow County Clerk of Superior Court in 2006 he promised the teachers in a county-wide letter that he would end his political career if he lost the election.
Said Commissioner Collins in the letter:
“I have promised my family that I will leave the political arena if I am unsuccessful in this endeavor.”
It seems that Collins‘ integrity to his family is about as strong as his integrity to voters and the State Board of Elections, since he’s filed to run for re-election to the Onslow County Board of Commissioners.
From today’s Jacksonville Daily News (print and online-print edition):
“I would like to run one more time to make sure that some of the things that are set in motion are finished,” he said. “I also want to make sure that things, such as the government complex, don’t happen because I don’t want to see a tax increase.”
Commissioner Collins: Why should anyone vote for you? You have proven that you can’t (or won’t?) keep your word and that you’re negligent when it comes to campaign finance law. Pull your filing and exit the Onslow County political arena as you promised.
